DAY TRIPS FROM GUBBIO
TEMPIO DEL VALADIER
This is an absolutely stunning temple in the Marche region (40 minutes driving from Gubbio), hidden in the mountains.
Built in the early 19th century, the Tempio del Valadier has an octagonal shape and a clean and simple design. What makes this temple so unique is that the entire temple is built into a cave. It's located in the middle of a national park, so the views surrounding it are simply breathtaking.
There is free parking and a free shuttle bus on certain days (see their website for more information). Otherwise it’s mostly a 10 minute walk uphill.
If you ever visit this area, you've got to add the Tempio del Valadier to your bucket list. It's a little bit off the beaten path, but it's totally worth the journey.
Also, don’t miss the nearby Frasassi Caves.
