If you have young children, Fantabosco Soft Play is the perfect place to hang out. CONS:

- Not a lot of parking nearby.

- The parents seating area is small and you have to wait a while for a table.

This ultimate guide will provide you with all the information you need to plan your visit at the Civic Museum of Natural Science in Bergamo.

Location: The museum is located in Piazza Cittadella in the old town of Bergamo (Bergamo Alta or Città Alta).  Bus No 1A departs from Milan Bergamo Airport, Orio al Serio Airport (BGY), goes through Bergamo city center and arrives in Città Alta. When you reach the last stop in Città Alta, just follow the museum signs to Piazza Cittadella. Alternatively, you can take the Città Alta Funicular, which connects the lower part of Bergamo (“Città Bassa”) with the upper part (“Città Alta”), and walk all the way through the main street of the old town to Piazza Cittadella. On both buses and funicular you can use contactless cards (1 per person).

Things to see and to do: The museum features a variety of interactive sections and exhibits, such as the stone experiment section and the drawing area. In the stone experiment section, visitors can learn about the properties of different stones and how they interact with each other and look at them through a microscope. In the drawing area, you can draw your own Citipati (a genus of oviraptorid dinosaur that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous period, about 75 million to 71 million years ago). Additionally, the museum offers over 55,000 species of plant and animal specimens. Visitors can explore the museum’s collections and learn about the different creatures inhabiting our planet.

 

Price: For only 3 euros you can enter the Science Museum and the Archaeological Museum. Free entrance for children under 18 years old.

Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 9.30 – 17.30

 

Our opinion: This is a great museum and definitely worth a visit, especially if you are looking for fun things to do with kids on a rainy day in Bergamo.

If you need a break from churches, historical sites and art galleries during your visit to Italy, or are just looking for fun things to do in Bergamo with kids, go to Museo del Burattino in Bergamo Città Bassa (lower part of Bergamo).

 

The museum is not big, so your visit won't take much time. But it's an absolutely fascinating and delightful museum with around 120 puppets. A real gem in the centre of Bergamo. Even if you're not interested in puppets, there's no reason to avoid this place. What you will see is a work of art. It's a fantastic world of fantasy.

ACQUAWORLD WATER PARK

The aquapark is only a short drive from Milan or Bergamo and is easily accessible from Milan Bergamo Airport, Orio al Serio Airport (BGY). It is the largest indoor and outdoor water park in Italy and the first of its kind. Open all year round. There is a large indoor swimming pool with slides for adults and children over 110 cm, wave machine, dedicated area for little ones, heated outdoor pool with sun loungers and SPA area exclusively for adults.
