Ravello is tucked away in the mountains above the Amalfi Coast. This hidden gem is a popular destination for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy coastline. Ravello is known for its stunning views, and its tranquil atmosphere. There are plenty of things to do in Ravello, from exploring the town's charming streets and medieval buildings to taking a dip in the Infinity Pool at the Villa Cimbrone. Ravello is also home to some of the best restaurants on the Amalfi Coast, making it the perfect place to enjoy a romantic meal or a special occasion. 

Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo

Ravello is home to several historical villas, including Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, which is a must-visit for any traveler to Ravello. Villa Rufolo is a stunning villa that dates back to the 13th century. The villa is set atop a cliff with stunning views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.  Visitors can explore the villa's numerous rooms and lush gardens, kids can run around outside, and there's even an on-site café where you can enjoy a refreshing drink after a day of sightseeing.

 

Villa Rufolo also hosts the annual Ravello festival in summer for music lovers. The Ravello Music Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious festivals in Italy, making Ravello the "City of Music". Here you can get a taste of Italian culture and listen to the best music from around the world. The stage overlooking the sea has hosted outstanding symphony orchestras (Dresden State Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Kirov Theatre); soloists (Argerich, Cassado, Ciccolini, Glass); famous jazz musicians (Bollani, Caine, Corea, Hancock); opera singers (Behrens, Christopher, Cura, Domingo), etc.

 

Villa Cimbrone was built in the 11th century and has been restored to its original glory. The villa is open to the public and features a beautiful garden with panoramic views of the coastline. Visitors can also take a tour of the villa itself, which is full of antiques and artwork.

 

The gardens of Villa Cimbrone are open to the public daily from 09:00 until sunset. Entrance fee is EUR 10.00, with discounts for groups and children under 12.

 

Another main attraction in Ravello is the Duomo Ravello, a 12th-century cathedral located in the town center. The cathedral is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture and features a number of ornate sculptures and artworks. The Duomo Ravello is open to the public and is definitely worth a visit if you are in town.

 

Every Tuesday morning, Piazza Duomo hosts a lively street market where you can buy local produce like wine, mozzarella and olive oil, as well as discounted designer clothes.
